This class would be ideal for you if:
you have recently had a baby, at least 6 weeks ago if you had a vaginal delivery or 8 weeks ago if you had a Cesarean or instrumental delivery,
You want to re-build your core strength and recover your pelvic floor function effectively, under the close supervision of an experienced Physiotherapist,
You are keen to resume general exercise eg running, bootcamp but want to build your core stability and recover from pregnancy first,
You suffer with back pain, leak urine, have abdominal separation or prolapse and want specialised guidance in what exercises can treat this effectively,
You had an episiotomy or perineal tear and would like to learn how exercise can help you to recover from this,
Your baby is not yet crawling or your baby is less than ~18 months and you can arrange childcare to attend the class on your own,
You would like to enjoy some time for YOU, without the hassle/worry/expense of making childcare arrangements,
You are looking for a class with small numbers and an individualised approach,
You like cake. The cafe serves REALLY good cake.
Bring your baby!
(although baby does not have to attend!)
Jo appreciates that as a mother, there is little 'me' time to be had, so has devised the classes such that you can care for your little one whilst taking some time for you too. Sensory toys will be provided for the babies' entertainment but bring your own blanket, car seat, playgym or bouncy chair for your baby too.
There is a nappy changing unit for you to use and do tend to your baby during the class as and when you need to. Crying is ok too!
Some ladies prefer to leave baby/babies with Dad or another caregiver, so as to focus more on themselves in the class, which is also fine. The focus is on postnatal recovery for new Mums so the class is most relevant if you have a child under 18 months old.
Enjoy a hot drink and some yummy homemade cakes in The Studio cafe before or after your class with the other mums and babies.
What to bring/wear
Wear loose comfortable clothes that you can move and stretch freely in. You may prefer to bring a small towel and some water but all equipment will be provided including mats, but please feel free to use your own if you wish. Bring some loose change for tea and cake after class!
Soft mats will be provided for your baby beside your mat but you may like to bring a blanket in addition. Bring along anything you feel will help keep baby happy. Mums often bring their playgym, bouncy chairs, sit-up rings/chairs, and play white noise!
